Does digital waste tracking apply to me in 2027?

If you carry, broker or deal in waste but don't receive it at your own permitted site, your date is October 2027.

Part B — Who it covers

Carriers, brokers and dealers

Phase 2 reaches more than 100,000 operators. It covers the businesses arranging or moving waste that aren't already reporting as a permitted receiving site.

If you tip into your own permitted transfer station, that site is already in Phase 1 from 1 October 2026. Your carrier work follows in Phase 2.

Part C — What to do now

Don't buy software a year early

Keep your registration details current. Make sure your paper records are complete. Then test the reporting process when DEFRA publishes the final Phase 2 detail.
